What and who are BAFE?
BAFE is the independent third party registration body for the fire protection industry. For more than 25 years we have been developing schemes for UKAS accredited certification bodies to assess and approve companies to recognised standards.
Companies, and in some schemes their technicians, who meet these standards can then display the prestigious BAFE logo as a registered company – a marque of approval that tells you that they are competent and regularly assessed.
BAFE is a ‘not for profit’ organisation and our registered companies include manufacturers, installers and maintainers of fire protection products – from major international groups to small local businesses – with one thing in common: they have all invested in quality systems and training to achieve their third party certification and BAFE registration, so that you get the benefit of knowing you are dealing with competent people. The BAFE Council decides on policy and strategy and includes the principal Trade Associations, Certification bodies, government departments and agencies, the Chief Fire Officers Association and other representatives of the Industry. The staff, based on the site of the Fire Service College in Gloucestershire, represent the organisation on technical groups, promote the standards of the organisation and ensure that registered companies’ records are maintained to make sure they are fully competent.
BAFE also provides independent examination facilities to leading training organisations.
